Construction Laborer cover letter example

Foothills Infrastructure Partners

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Construction Laborer position with Foothills Infrastructure Partners. With practical experience supporting both civil infrastructure works and residential framing projects in Calgary, I am eager to contribute to your earthworks, utility trenching, and active site operations with a steadfast commitment to worksite safety.

In my current role as a Civil Construction Laborer with Bow Valley Earthworks & Civil, I assist site supervisors and trade crews with commercial foundation excavation, grading, and utility trench preparation. My day-to-day duties involve operating walk-behind compactors, concrete vibrators, demo hammers, and submersible trash pumps in full compliance with provincial safety standards. Additionally, I regularly unload, inspect, and stage structural steel reinforcements, PVC conduit, and aggregates to maintain continuous workflow for trade specialists, while maintaining active housekeeping across 45,000-square-foot jobsites to keep accessways clear of hazards.

Prior to this, I worked as a General Laborer with Prairie Ridge Builders, where I supported framing crews on multi-unit townhome builds by staging fasteners, handling lumber, setting up temporary power and weather enclosures, and cleaning rough framing ahead of municipal inspections. My background is backed by formal pre-trades training in Trades and Construction Basics from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), along with valid certifications in CSTS 2020, Fall Protection Comprehensive, and Standard First Aid with CPR Level C.

I welcome the opportunity to bring my dependable work ethic, hands-on equipment handling, and safety discipline to the field team at Foothills Infrastructure Partners. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to discussing how my construction experience aligns with your upcoming projects.

Sincerely,

Taylor Morgan
