Ciarán Burke
Certified Accounting Technician & Bookkeeper
Western Engineering Supplies Ltd
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Bookkeeper position at Western Engineering Supplies Ltd. With a solid grounding in Irish SME financial administration and statutory compliance, I have developed comprehensive experience managing day-to-day accounts, balancing supplier and customer ledgers, and completing timely Revenue filings. I am keen to bring this practical experience and methodical approach to your Galway operations.
In my current role at Corrib Retail Distribution Ltd, I manage the purchase and sales ledgers for 45 active regional suppliers and commercial clients. Alongside day-to-day transaction processing, I handle monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations across three currency accounts. I also process fortnightly payroll for 65 staff using Sage Micropay and submit bi-monthly VAT 3 returns and annual RTD declarations through Revenue Online Service (ROS). This work has reinforced my commitment to strict deadlines and ledger accuracy.
Previously, as Assistant Bookkeeper at Claddagh Craft Breweries Ltd, I maintained purchase and sales ledgers in Xero, resolved invoicing queries, and conducted credit control activities that reduced overdue accounts receivable balances by 18%. Combined with my Diploma for Accounting Technicians and certification in Sage 50cloud, these experiences have given me the practical skills needed to maintain dependable records and support management reporting from day one.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my bookkeeping background and familiarity with statutory Irish reporting can support Western Engineering Supplies Ltd. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Ciarán Burke
