Kaitlyn MacIntyre
Certified Junior Firefighter | NFPA 1001 (I & II) | Emergency Medical Responder
Kemptville District Fire and Rescue Service
Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my strong interest in the Firefighter position with Kemptville District Fire and Rescue Service. Holding NFPA 1001 Level I and II certifications alongside an active Emergency Medical Responder licence and DZ commercial qualification, I have developed disciplined operational suppression and emergency response skills in both municipal and wildland environments. I am eager to bring my practical training and commitment to public safety to your frontline suppression crew.
In my current role with Rideau Basin Fire and Rescue Service, I deploy standard structural attack lines, carry out primary searches, and perform interior suppression under incident command direction. My duties also include operating breathing apparatus, forcible entry tools, and thermal imaging cameras, as well as conducting daily apparatus checks and pump capacity verifications. Additionally, having worked as a wildland attack firefighter with Boreal Shield Wildfire Services, I bring proven stamina in operating portable water pumps and cutting containment lines over demanding terrain during high-risk conditions.
I also prioritize dependable patient care and community preparedness. As an Emergency Medical Responder, I deliver pre-hospital care, including oxygen therapy, CPR, and automated external defibrillation on emergency calls prior to paramedic handover. In addition, I have collaborated with senior crew members to produce a standardized rapid-deployment hose bed reference guide for company drills, supporting consistent timed evolutions. I welcome the opportunity to contribute this hands-on field experience, apparatus care, and medical readiness to the Kemptville community.
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn MacIntyre
