Lukas Meier
Junior Agricultural Engineer | Precision Farming & Smart Irrigation
AlpenField Technologies AG
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Agricultural Engineer position at AlpenField Technologies AG. With an applied background in precision farming, field instrumentation, and crop water management across arable landscapes in Switzerland, I welcome the opportunity to contribute to your team's ongoing work in smart agriculture and sensor-driven field systems.
In my current position as Junior Agricultural Engineer at Helvetia AgroTech Systems AG, I design and test telemetry-enabled drip irrigation pilot systems across 14 vegetable farms in the Bernese Seeland, helping reduce local water application rates by 12%. I also collaborate with senior agronomists to develop automated soil moisture alerts utilizing LoRaWAN telemetry sensors, calibrate multispectral drone mapping workflows for cereal acreage, and prepare technical trial reports for advisory services. This experience has deepened my practical understanding of deploying reliable telemetry stations and validating irrigation efficiency directly in the field.
Previously, during my engineering internship at Aare Valley AgroSolutions GmbH, I assisted in processing spatial yield monitor data and tractor CAN-bus telemetry across 22 field sites using QGIS, while conducting soil compaction assessments during tillage trials. Combined with my Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Bern University of Applied Sciences HAFL, these experiences have provided me with a rigorous foundation in spatial analysis, sensor calibration, and machinery-data evaluation.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my background in field trials, LoRaWAN telemetry, and irrigation testing can support the engineering projects at AlpenField Technologies AG. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Lukas Meier
