Rowan Kelly
Experienced Material Handler | Forklift Operator & Inventory Specialist
Blackwater Freight Logistics
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Material Handler position with Blackwater Freight Logistics. Having worked extensively in busy distribution and cargo hubs across County Cork, I have built a practical background in high-bay machinery operation, system-guided inventory receiving, and timely dispatch coordination. I welcome the opportunity to bring my hands-on operational discipline and safety focus to your warehouse operations.
In my current role as Senior Material Handler at Lee Valley Logistics Hub, I operate reach and counterbalance forklifts across a 15,000-square-metre high-bay distribution centre. My day-to-day work involves processing inbound industrial consignments, verifying bills of lading, and entering receipts into SAP EWM with 99.8% accuracy. I also coordinate load verification and staging for 45 outgoing transport trailers daily under Irish road transit standards, while conducting daily rolling cycle counts to keep location variances resolved quickly.
My earlier background at Corrib Cold & Dry Cargo Solutions gave me practical exposure to handling ambient and temperature-controlled freight while using handheld RF barcode terminals for order picking and pallet wrapping. Additionally, during a warehouse optimization project at Lee Valley Logistics Hub, I participated in a cross-docking redesign that cut turnaround intervals for priority inbound shipments by 20 minutes and helped remap pick paths to reduce travel distances across the central bay.
I hold current CILT Ireland certifications for counterbalance and reach forklift trucks, alongside Solas Safe Pass registration. I would value the chance to discuss how my distribution background and inventory handling skills align with Blackwater Freight Logistics' operational requirements. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Rowan Kelly
