I am writing to express my interest in the Referee position with the Caledonian Amateur Football Association. Having officiated competitive youth fixtures and senior amateur league matches across Edinburgh and the Lothians, I offer a disciplined, consistent approach to applying the IFAB Laws of the Game, managing match tempo, and upholding sporting integrity on the pitch.
In my current role as a Match Referee with the Forthbridge District Football League, I officiate weekly senior amateur fixtures, managing on-field disciplinary actions through calm, assertive communication and issuing cautions or sending-offs in strict accordance with competition standards. I also collaborate closely with assistant referees and club representatives to inspect pitch conditions, player equipment, and technical areas prior to kickoff, followed by submitting accurate digital post-match reports within three hours of match conclusion.
Previously, with the Pentland Youth Football Association, I officiated Under-14 to Under-18 competitive league and cup matches, handling approximately 45 fixtures per season and serving as an appointed assistant referee for regional semi-final and final fixtures. Coupled with my degree in Sports Coaching and Development from Edinburgh Napier University, where my honours study explored communication between match officials and grassroots club staff during contested incidents, this experience has equipped me to maintain decisive control, ensure player safety, and foster respectful relations with players and team officials.
