In my current role as a Junior Mechanical Engineer (EIT) at Apex Mechatronics Ltd., I produce detailed 3D CAD models, production assemblies, and bills of materials for automated sorting systems using SOLIDWORKS. My responsibilities include performing structural and thermal FEA simulations on robotic end-effector mounts to verify safety factors under dynamic operating conditions. Additionally, I perform tolerance stack-up analyses and apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards to component drawings released for CNC milling and sheet-metal fabrication, working alongside machining technicians and assembly leads during prototype commissioning to address fit discrepancies and track engineering change orders.
During my earlier internship at Cascade Metalcraft Solutions, I assisted senior engineers with mechanical drafting for industrial frames and customized ventilation ducting, while conducting mechanical tensile and hardness testing on welded aluminum coupons. This hands-on testing and drafting experience is complemented by my capstone work at the University of British Columbia, where I modeled buoyant frames and intake filtration mechanisms using SOLIDWORKS, verifying the hydrodynamic designs using physical scale prototypes. These experiences have reinforced my ability to translate functional requirements into dependable, manufacturable hardware.
