Maya Campbell
Ontario Certified Middle School Teacher (Junior/Intermediate Division)
Highland Crest Academy
Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Middle School Teacher position at Highland Crest Academy. As an Ontario Certified Teacher qualified in the Junior and Intermediate divisions with classroom experience in Grade 7 and 8 English and history, I look forward to contributing to your intermediate humanities program and supporting learners through structured, student-centred instruction.
In my current role at Kensington Meadows Academy, I teach Grade 7 English language arts and Grade 8 history to four class cohorts totalling 88 students, aligning all weekly plans with Ontario curriculum expectations. To support varied learning needs and individual education plans (IEPs), I integrate Google Classroom and assistive reading tools directly into instructional tasks. I also facilitate weekly literacy circles and structured essay-writing workshops, which have supported measurable gains in formative reading comprehension scores across term assessments, while maintaining transparent bi-weekly updates with parents and guardians.
My instructional approach emphasizes scaffolded inquiry and assessment aligned with provincial standards. During an instructional project focusing on Great Lakes environmental inquiry, I developed a four-week interdisciplinary unit combining Grade 7 geography and narrative writing for 55 participating students, culminating in digital storytelling presentations. By establishing evaluation rubrics grounded in Ontario Growing Success guidelines, I provided students with clear self-assessment benchmarks that fostered accountability and reflective thinking.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my classroom experience, curriculum alignment, and dedication to supportive middle school communities align with the intermediate program at Highland Crest Academy. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Maya Campbell
