Julian Mercer
Registered Social Worker | Case Management & Youth Services
Harbourview Youth and Family Centre
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Social Worker role with Harbourview Youth and Family Centre. As a Registered Social Worker supporting youth and families in Vancouver, I focus on trauma-informed assessment, individualized intervention planning, and community resource navigation to assist clients through complex system transitions.
In my current practice at Pacific Crest Family Services, I manage an active caseload of 18 youth and families facing housing instability, mental health concerns, and life transitions. I regularly conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, develop individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and coordinate referrals to provincial income assistance and specialized adolescent outpatient services. Additionally, my work at Rainforest Youth Support Centre involved assisting senior case managers with intake screenings and emergency shelter placements, while connecting with 14 community service partners across Metro Vancouver to secure vital resources.
My direct casework is supported by practical contributions to service coordination, such as developing a standardized intake resource packet that reduced client onboarding and initial referral processing time by two business days. Through hands-on crisis intervention and formal safety planning adhering to provincial documentation standards, I remain committed to providing structured, collaborative support that aligns with Harbourview Youth and Family Centre's community mandate.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my clinical casework background and commitment to youth advocacy can support your team and clients.
Sincerely,
Julian Mercer
