Fiona Macallister
Senior Landscape Designer | Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI)
Forth Urban Ecology
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Landscape Designer position at Forth Urban Ecology. As a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute based in Edinburgh with background across public realm schemes, masterplanning, and sustainable drainage strategies, I am drawn to your studio's focus on resilient and climate-conscious landscape interventions across Scotland.
In my role as Senior Landscape Designer at Cairncrest Environmental Design, I lead landscape design development and technical delivery for mixed-use public realm schemes, residential developments, and commercial campus grounds. My responsibilities include directing planning submissions, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA), and detailed construction drawing packages compliant with Scottish planning policy and SuDS standards. I also regularly coordinate multi-disciplinary consultant teams, including civil engineers, ecologists, and tree officers, resolving complex ground levels, grading, and drainage integrations from initial concept through site inspections.
My past project work includes designing and coordinating the 1.8-hectare St Margaret's Community Park and Rain Garden Masterplan rejuvenation, which integrated permeable surfaces, rain gardens, and biodiverse herbaceous borders to secure unanimous local planning approval. Furthermore, during my time at Talla Landscape Studio, I produced detailed masterplans, hard landscape detailing, and native planting schedules while supervising junior assistants in BIM and 3D terrain modeling workflows, improving practice drawing turnaround by 25%.
I would welcome the opportunity to bring my technical detailing, planning liaison, and sustainable water management background to Forth Urban Ecology. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my experience aligns with your team's upcoming design projects.
Yours sincerely,
Fiona Macallister
