Sonographer cover letter example

Wessex Community Diagnostic Centre

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my interest in the Sonographer position at Wessex Community Diagnostic Centre. As an HCPC-registered diagnostic practitioner with CASE-accredited postgraduate training in medical ultrasound, I am keen to contribute to your diagnostic imaging department by providing high-quality abdominal, renal, and gynaecological ultrasound examinations.

In my current role as a Junior Sonographer with Severnside Integrated Health NHS Trust, I perform and report independent abdominal, renal, and small-parts examinations across inpatient and outpatient services. My day-to-day practice includes transabdominal and transvaginal gynaecological scans conducted in accordance with national quality standards, alongside working closely with consultant radiologists to evaluate complex anomalies and urgent findings. Prior to this, my background as a general radiographer provided extensive clinical experience across acute and outpatient settings, reinforcing rigorous patient care and acoustic safety.

To ensure service quality, I also led a departmental audit evaluating 120 consecutive outpatient renal ultrasound referrals against clinical indications, presenting findings at our clinical governance meeting to support refined triage criteria. I am motivated to bring this dedication to clinical accuracy, protocol adherence, and clear multidisciplinary communication to the outpatient scanning team at Wessex Community Diagnostic Centre.

Thank you for considering my application. I welcome the opportunity to discuss how my clinical experience and diagnostic scanning background align with your department's needs.

Yours sincerely,

Callum Davies
