Julian Thorne
Junior Fashion Designer
Aventine Studio
Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Fashion Designer position at Aventine Studio. Currently pursuing my BA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins alongside studio practice in London, I have developed a strong foundation in garment construction, technical drafting, and prototype sampling that aligns with your atelier's emphasis on refined tailoring and exacting craftsmanship.
In my current role as Design Studio Assistant at Marlowe & Sylvan Atelier, I assist the lead designer with technical specification flats and detailed construction packs in Adobe Illustrator for seasonal capsule ranges. This studio experience has honed my eye for technical accuracy across fabrications including lightweight wools, silks, and technical blends, while constructing toile prototypes and altering sample garments to strict studio specifications.
My technical foundation also draws upon hands-on pattern room experience from Elysian Textile Works, where I assisted pattern cutters with tracing, grading, and digitizing master cardboard blocks across UK sizes 8 to 16. In parallel, my independent work on the Subterrane menswear capsule collection allowed me to draft custom block patterns by hand, simulate garment drape using CLO 3D to evaluate fit, and prepare comprehensive production-ready specification sheets.
I welcome the opportunity to bring my disciplined studio support, technical drafting skills, and dedication to tailored construction to Aventine Studio. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to discussing how my experience can support your forthcoming collections.
Yours sincerely,
Julian Thorne
