Orchestral and Chamber Musician | Violoncello
Jura Philharmonie Orchestra
Dear Members of the Audition Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Musician position with the Jura Philharmonie Orchestra. Having built an extensive performance background in symphonic, operatic, and chamber music across Switzerland, I welcome the opportunity to contribute my technical foundation, score preparation discipline, and ensemble cohesion to your upcoming concert seasons.
In my current role as Section Cellist with the Léman Sinfonietta Ensemble, I perform across 18 seasonal subscription concerts and contemporary music series annually. This ongoing work involves collaborating closely with visiting conductors and guest soloists on both twentieth-century works and classical symphonic literature, as well as preparing complex orchestral bowings and score annotations across standard and newly commissioned repertoire. Through this disciplined routine, I ensure strict consistency in intonation, tone production, and articulation within the section.
My background also includes focused ensemble work with the Rhône Chamber Players, delivering over 25 performances per season across western Switzerland in string quartet and quintet formations. In addition to curating thematic concert programs that paired Baroque sonatas with new Swiss chamber commissions, I facilitated pre-concert talks and outreach demonstrations in regional cultural centres. This breadth of chamber and orchestral performance, complemented by my cello section experience with Helvetia Touring Opera Production across 12 European venues, enables me to adapt readily to varied conductors and demanding rehearsal schedules.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss how my orchestral discipline and chamber music background align with the artistic goals of the Jura Philharmonie Orchestra. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Morgan Althaus
